Fire permits are being issued through to the 31st August.

A Reminder for TDC Restricted fire areas - no burning in the months June, July & Aug due to smoke pollution. To see if you are in a restricted area go to Navigate to TDC Fire Sensitive Maps then click on Discharges and Fire Ban / Sensitive areas.

The Nelson Tasman region consists of a land area that is over 1 Million Hectares.  
Land use ranges from conservation National Parks, vast commercial forestry areas, horticulture
including tree & pip fruit industry, sheep beef & dairy farming to lifestyle properties. 
The environment consists of varying degrees of fire risk & hazard, which as proven by history,
need focused fire management.  The fire management needs of this diverse environment are as
diverse as the environment itself ranging from the forestry harvesting operations undertaken in
the steep back country to the lifestyle farmer.  Fire management within this environment is divided
into the following areas: Reduction, Readiness, Response & Recovery.
